(Topeka) -- The Kansas Department of Revenue is opening the “Self-Serve Web-Based Tax Clearance Program” for use by any business. The program helps to ensure that Kansas tax compliance no longer be limited to government vendor businesses.

The Department believes the business community should partner with State and local governments in working together to enhance overall tax equity and compliance.

Kansas businesses and individuals can utilize the "Certificate of Tax Clearance" in their private business dealings if they choose to do so.  Use of this program will sturdily encourage Kansas tax compliance and help level the playing field for those who pay their taxes.

Use of this simple web-based business tool aids in assuring the business is contracting, or dealing with compliant taxpayers.  During the course of normal business, or when seeking contractual bids, a business may request a "Certificate of Tax Clearance" from its bidders to ensure Kansas tax law compliance as part of the bid negotiation process. If the "Certificate of Tax Clearance" is not included in the required paperwork, the packet can be deemed incomplete and the bidder disqualified.

A favorable tax clearance is valid for 90-days from the date of the tax clearance, so would not reflect any new tax delinquencies arising after the issue date printed on the front of the certificate.

The "Certificate of Tax Clearance" is simple to verify by entering the Tax ID and the Confirmation Number on the KDOR website provided on the "Certificate of Tax Clearance".

Participation is as easy as reading the information on our website …
