New Kansas Driver's License Card

A new Kansas driver's license card will begin replacing the current Kansas driver's license. The new license includes additional security features not part of the current license. Some of the security features on the new card include:

  • Multi-colored, highly detailed holograms
  • UV image of cardholders portrait and date of birth on the back of the card that appears illuminates under a UV (ultraviolet) light
  • Microprint in several locations on the front and back of the card (viewable with a mag loupe)
  • Fine line printing
  • Tactile printing that you can feel
  • Highly detailed ultra-violet (UV) image of the state flower (viewable with UV light)
  • Laser-etched ghost image

Driver's license and identification cards issued to underage persons will continue to be in the vertical format. A green bar continues to appear under the cardholder's portrait who is between 18 and 20 years of age with the date s/he will turn 21 years of age. A red bar continues to appear under the portrait for those under 18 years of age.
